Jared from Fort Bend Asks: Will a screened patio keep all bugs out of my patio area?

Answer: The screen we use for screened enclosures is tight enough to prevent mosquitoes and other flying and crawling insects from entering your enclosed space. This is not the same screen used on most windows and doors. It is a stronger and better quality screen. We cannot guarantee a bug-free environment but, if bugs are present, they probably did not enter through our screened patio.

Mike from Katy asks: We are considering a covered patio but my homeowner's association needs to approve of any new construction. What do I need to do to get this approved?

Answer: We work with homeowner associations on many projects and normally have no troubles. Typically plans are submitted and approved within one week. Some associations are slower, some are faster. While we cannot guarantee approval, we have worked with most home owner's associations already and we are able to to expedite the process by submitting plans that are clear and meet their requirements. Our construction methods and materials are top notch and we encounter few problems with approval throughout the greater Houston area. This is a common concern in Houston.

Susan from Kingwood asks: Will Hardi plank siding reduce my insurance rate?

Answer: HardiPlank will probably reduce your insurance rate. Most insurance companies will lower your rate if you replace wood or vinyl with HardiPlank fiber-cement siding.

Tom from Houston asks: What is the difference between a pergola and an arbor?

Answer: Pergola and arbor are two names for similar structures. An arbor would normally be a free standing garden structure, often supporting growing plants and vines. A pergola may be free standing or attached to your home and recalls roman architecture. The construction methods are similar and the assigned name of arbor or pergola may be left to the owner. Lattice is another term used for these structures.
