Wall and Sub-floor Insulation Installed by Lone Star
Sub-floor Insulation

Wood floors are susceptible to heat loss. In the winter a floor that is not insulated is cold and unpleasant to walk on. It is vulnerable to moisture which can damage the wood and make the interior of the house humid.
Due to the limited crawlspace area under the floor, less insulation material can be installed. So, a sub-floor insulation material must be selected with an appropriate R-value. For most sub-floor insulating applications fiberglass insulation is used with polyethylene sheeting to create a moisture barrier on the ground.
In a vented crawlspace the sub-floor insulation is applied to the underfloor. In vented crawlspaces the perimeter walls are insulated.
Injected Foam Wall Insulation
For finished walls, wall insulation foam can be injected. The expanding foam fills empty space inside the walls. The foam insulates, reduces outside noise and is fire retardant. This can be used on all types of homes, including brick, stucco, vynil and aluminum.
Blown-in Cellulose Wall Insulation
This is another good alternative for finished walls. Blown-in cellulose insulation has R-value comparable to fiberglass insulation. In addition it easily flows around obstacle and fills voids for more effective insulation. Cellulose is also treated to be fire retardant.
Fiberglass Wall Insulation
Fiberglass wall insulation batts are ideal for a new construction. It has proven insulation values and a sufficient R-value. Fiberglass is inert, so it does not cause corrosion in the building materials and does not ignite readily. It ages well, so it will maintain its R-value over the years.
